Yen-Ting Cho presents the 2022 Phantasm Wool Scarf Collection, a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The collection features digitally-printed patterns created with the studio's innovative software, mov.i.see, which uses body movement to reconstruct digital data and reveal organic details. This results in asymmetrical, non-repeat patterns that are unlike those made using traditional methods. Each scarf is made of pure wool and digitally printed with ink free of heavy metals, measuring 100cm wide x 200cm long and weighing 0.4 kg.
The collection, inspired by the pandemic, was designed between September 2020 and February 2022 and was launched in New York City. The scarves are designed to be gender-neutral fashion accessories, with unique and dynamic patterns that can be worn in different ways to reflect individual expression and fit changing fashion needs and occasions. The wool is specially treated to be comfortable and non-abrasive to the touch. The collection was awarded Silver in the A' Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Award in 2022.
Yen-Ting Cho, the designer, is an artist, designer, and researcher based in London, who founded Yen Ting Cho Studio in 2016. He uses his own digital technology, which responds to body movement to create innovative, colorful, and unique patterns for fashion accessories and interior design products. Cho is also a Professor of Media and Interaction Design at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.
