Moels and Co 528: Redefining Timepiece Design

Betina Greca Menescal presents Moels and Co 528, a distinctive timepiece influenced by Bauhaus and Mid-century Modern design principles, featuring a unique rectangular case shape and an asymmetric dial sectioned according to the golden ratio. The watch boasts a 10 ATM water resistance rating, a 3mm thick double domed sapphire crystal, and a dial painted with metallic shimmers that change colors based on light conditions.

Utilizing Vectorworks for technical drawings, the watch is manufactured with high precision 5-axis CNC machining using 316L 1.4404 steel, known for its excellent properties and recyclability. The design measures 33mm in height, 45mm in width, and 11mm thick, including the crystal, with a custom eco-friendly package designed to reduce shipping costs.

Moels and Co 528 operates on mechanical movement, powered by kinetic energy, ensuring longevity and sustainability. The project commenced in April 2020 in Como, Italy, with the prototype manufacturing completed in January 2022. The design received overwhelming positive feedback, leading to its realization despite challenges faced during the pandemic.

This exceptional timepiece, designed by Betina Greca Menescal, has garnered the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2022, reflecting the designer's prodigy and wisdom. Moels and Co 528 stands as a testament to Betina's passion for creating simple, clean, and beautiful products, influenced by Mid-Century Modern, the Bauhaus, and Dieter Rams.
