Switchbag: A Backpack Redefining Functionality and Style

Stéphanie Branco introduces Switchbag, a revolutionary backpack design inspired by architectural geometrical forms and Mondrian paintings. The backpack's magnetized and colored compartments reveal little worlds inside, reflecting the duality of human nature and mental health representation. Handcrafted with upcycled leather, the Switchbag is a versatile and adaptable accessory that morphs into an office, nomadic home, or decorative organizer, embodying resilience in tough times.

The Switchbag features detachable interior boxes with magnets, allowing users to modify and adapt its position according to their needs. This innovative design project, initiated in June 2022 in Lisbon and supported by the European Commission and Worth Project II, was exhibited at Design Milan Week in April 2023, showcasing its exceptional craftsmanship and functionality.

Stéphanie Branco's dedication to preserving the hand sew technique "Saddle Stitch" and her architectural background has culminated in the creation of Switchbag, a design that has earned her the Bronze A' Design Award in Fashion and Travel Accessories Design in 2024, recognizing its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness.
