SONTAYA PANSUPA introduces the Mai 12 Collection, a modern take on traditional Thai architectural design, crafted with Cad/Cam technology and adorned with Grajang patterns.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SONTAYA PANSUPA presents the Mai 12 Collection, drawing inspiration from the twelve indented corners of traditional Thai architecture. The collection reimagines the architectural form, infusing it with delicacy and dimension through twisting and shifting the 12-corners indented stupa.
Grajang patterns, inspired by Thai traditions, adorn the pieces, creating a modern vintage design that offers a fresh perspective on Thai arts. Crafted using Cad/Cam technology, the collection features bangles and rings with dimensions of 7cm x 7cm x 5cm and 2cm x 2cm x 2cm respectively.
This innovative jewelry brings a contemporary touch to Thai art, blending modern form with the delicacy of traditional Thai art, and is the latest addition to the Grajang brand.
The Mai 12 Collection is a result of extensive research into the traditional Thai architectural feature of indented corners, commonly known as Mai12. The design process, which commenced in October 2020, involved sketching, computer-aided design, and prototype development, culminating in the production of the final pieces in January - February 2021.
Overcoming creative and technical challenges, the designer successfully transformed the geometric architectural form into exquisite jewelry, retaining the essence of the 12-corners indented stupa while ensuring wearability. The collection reflects the designer's vision of blending the beauty of Thai art with modern production techniques.
SONTAYA PANSUPA, based in Bangkok, Thailand, is known for creating digital craft jewelry that harmoniously combines traditional motifs with contemporary design, and the Mai 12 Collection is a testament to this unique approach.
