Vassilis Mylonadis Introduces a Unique Coaster Set Inspired by Traditional Greek Loom Motifs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Vassilis Mylonadis introduces "Sousmotif," a coaster set inspired by traditional Greek loom motifs, bringing hidden aspects of history into everyday life.
The coaster set is made of laser-cut okoume wood and white plexiglass, offering users the ability to create various combinations according to their aesthetics.
Each set consists of 4 coasters, which can be multiplied to provide 8 coasters in total, creating a negative or positive footprint of the motif when placed on a surface.
The project, which started in March 2016 and finished in July 2016 in Athens, was exhibited in "It's all, oh so souvenir to me Vol. 4" in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Mylonadis' inspiration came from the technical skills of traditional loom users in Greece, aiming to simplify motifs from textiles into objects for everyday life.
The transition from folklore to the present led to the use of okoume plywood and plexiglass, offering a well-balanced product with a profound reference to Greece's recent past.
It is a unique way to see aspects of Greece's history and folklore through a different perspective, making history come alive in a new form.
