Urbano: Redefining Urban Cycling with Innovative Design

Designer Mert Ali Bukulmez introduces Urbano, a groundbreaking handle-bar and carrying bag designed to address the challenges faced by urban commuters. Inspired by the congestion and obstacles of urban life, Urbano aims to provide a practical and safe alternative for transporting heavy loads in urban areas.

Urbano's universal handle-bar is engineered to fit any bicycle, offering a stable platform for the accompanying bag. The unique design not only ensures comfortable weight distribution but also enhances the cyclist's control and driving experience in urban environments.

With a focus on safety and convenience, Urbano's handle-bar comes with multiple width options to accommodate different shoulder widths, catering to a wide range of users.

The project, initiated in January 2018 at Nottingham Trent University, involved an extensive research phase spanning three months, followed by a two-month design process. The culmination of this effort resulted in the innovative Urbano, which was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its practical and innovative approach to urban commuting challenges.
