Morphknock: Award-Winning Transformable Jewelry Inspired by Persian Heritage and Modern Engineering

Morphknock, designed by Samira Adami Dadizadeh, has been honored with the Iron A' Jewelry Design Award 2025, recognizing its innovative approach to transformable jewelry. Drawing inspiration from historical Persian door knockers-symbols of hospitality and security-Morphknock reimagines these architectural elements as a dynamic, modular jewelry collection. The design seamlessly fuses traditional symbolism with contemporary engineering, offering wearers a versatile piece that can be worn as a necklace, bracelet, or ring.

The collection features a unique mechanism that allows for effortless transformation between different forms. Crafted from 18-carat yellow gold and adorned with rotating double-sided gemstones such as malachite, lapis lazuli, and black onyx, each piece captures the rich textures and patinas of ancient architecture. A reversible leather strap enables further customization, while Art Deco-inspired metalwork adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. The precise engineering of step hinges and movable axes ensures both structural integrity and flawless functionality, meeting rigorous standards for quality and durability.

Developed over three months in Istanbul, Morphknock is the result of extensive historical research, technical innovation, and artistic analysis. The project overcame significant challenges in integrating a rotational and folding mechanism that maintains both aesthetic harmony and practical usability. By referencing the geometric forms and symbolic meanings of traditional door knockers, Morphknock bridges the gap between cultural heritage and modern design, offering a wearable art piece that tells a story and adapts to the wearer's style.
