Elysian Necklace: Award-Winning Fusion of Art Nouveau Elegance and Modern Jewelry Innovation

Britta Schwalm's "Elysian" necklace stands out as a testament to the harmonious fusion of timeless elegance and modern craftsmanship. Inspired by the fluid forms of Art Nouveau and the vibrant beauty of nature, the necklace features a central piece crafted from 750 yellow gold, showcasing a vivid green tourmaline and a faceted freshwater cultured pearl. The innovative faceting technique applied to the pearl enhances its natural shimmer, while the intricate, hand-woven gold wire setting creates wing-like elements that frame the gemstones, evoking a sense of wonder and sophistication.

The creation of "Elysian" involved meticulous research and technical innovation, particularly in developing the new pearl faceting method and ensuring the security of the intricate wirework. The central piece measures 12 x 6 mm for the tourmaline and 8 mm for the pearl, both securely set within a woven 0.5 mm gold wire structure. The necklace itself is formed from a solid 750 yellow gold round wire, measuring 42 cm in length, and is finished with a handcrafted clasp for both elegance and durability. The result is a luxurious, wearable work of art that captivates with its detail and craftsmanship.

Completed in July 2024 in Frankfurt/Main, "Elysian" not only won prize money at the LIV NRW "Schmuckvisionen" competition but has now been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award 2025. This accolade celebrates the necklace's innovative approach, technical excellence, and its ability to evoke positive emotions through design. Schwalm's dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional jewelry-making is evident in every aspect of "Elysian," making it a standout piece in contemporary jewelry design.
