Mehragin Rahmati's "Queen of Lake" ring has captured international acclaim by winning the Silver A' Jewelry Design Award in 2025, recognizing it as a top-tier example of creative and technically remarkable jewelry. Crafted in Dubai between February and August 2023, this unique piece draws inspiration from Monet's iconic Water Lilies, reflecting the artist's vivid use of color and innovative spirit despite his visual impairment. The ring's design pays homage to Monet's exaggerated hues, with diamonds enhancing the brilliance of white lilies and tanzanite stones capturing the lake's purple tones.
What sets the "Queen of Lake" apart is its multifunctional design. The ring features a sophisticated mechanism allowing it to be effortlessly transformed into a pendant or brooch, offering wearers versatility without compromising elegance or comfort. Every aspect of the piece, including the intricately handmade back adorned with tanzanite, demonstrates meticulous craftsmanship. Despite its substantial size, the ring remains comfortable and secure, thanks to extensive research and refinement in its construction and gemstone setting.
Handcrafted from 18k yellow gold and centered around a 16mm South Sea pearl, the ring is embellished with 80 F-color, VVS-clarity diamonds and 21 tanzanites in various cuts. The petals are shaped by hand, and the piece employs both pave and grain setting techniques. The design process overcame significant technical challenges, particularly in ensuring the safety and delicacy of the transformation mechanism and the elegant integration of the pin and lock on the brooch's back. The result is a piece that not only dazzles with its artistry but also tells a story of resilience, creativity, and homage to artistic masters.
