Anna-Reetta Väänänen's Sarah Ring is a stunning piece of jewelry that captures the essence of Sarah Bernhard peonies. Crafted from recycled 585 yellow gold using lost wax casting and goldsmith plate techniques, the ring is a massive yet fragile representation of the iconic flower and the legendary actress. The design's uniqueness lies in its ability to seamlessly blend art and usability, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that exudes elegance and charm.

The intricate design process involved molding wax sheets and adding melted wax on a sphere tool to create the original flower pieces, which were then cast in gold. The resulting layers were meticulously polished and soldered together with gold wire, minimizing the use of solders to maintain the design's integrity. The ring's organic shape, measuring 21mm x 14mm, and varying ring sizes make it a versatile and visually captivating piece.

Exhibited in June 2021 in Sonkajärvi, Finland, the Sarah Ring project began in July 2020 and culminated in a masterpiece that captures the delicate yet resilient nature of the peony. Anna-Reetta Väänänen's meticulous research and dedication to creating a design that goes beyond mere imitation have resulted in a wearable piece of art that pays homage to nature, human character, and a bygone era.
