Angela Spindler's Nudus packaging stands out as a unique approach to snack food branding and packaging. Inspired by still life paintings, the design captures the natural beauty of fruits and vegetables, presenting them in their purest form. The stark black background provides a striking contrast, allowing the photography to vividly stand out on the packaging.
The packaging features air-dried fruit and vegetable snacks, emphasizing the product's natural goodness and playful humor. The imagery depicts the produce in its naked, unaltered state, highlighting the slow-dried method and the satisfying crunch of the snacks. The design aims to appeal to consumers seeking unadulterated, healthy snacks, with a tone of voice that reflects the brand's playful nature.
Printed using CMYK plus two spot colors per pack, the packaging incorporates a spot UV gloss for the brand mark and images, while the remaining material has a matte finish. The design specifications include a size of 12.5cm wide by 17cm high, offering a sleek and visually appealing presentation for the snacks.
From concept to finished art, the Nudus packaging project spanned from May 2018 to December 2018, with the official launch into the market in March 2019. The design process involved extensive research to capture the essence of the fruits and vegetables as objects of beauty, moving away from traditional illustrations to present the product in a classical, yet playful way.
The Nudus packaging received the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting approach to snack food packaging.
